How do I choose the right size leather jacket?
Measure your chest (or bust for women) and compare it with the body measurements above, then pick the size that matches. The shoulder seams should sit at the edge of your shoulders and the sleeves should end at your wrist bone. If you are between sizes, have broad shoulders or long arms, or want room for a thick knit, choose made to measure. It costs nothing extra.
How do I measure for a leather jacket?
Use a soft tape and measure over a thin layer. You need four measurements: shoulder, across the back from one shoulder point to the other; sleeves, from the shoulder point to the wrist bone with your arm relaxed; chest (bust for women), around the fullest part, under the arms, with the tape level; and length, from the base of the collar at the back down to where you want the jacket to end.
Should a men's leather jacket be tight or loose?
Snug, but not tight. The shoulder seams should sit at the edge of your shoulders, the sleeves should end at your wrist bone, and you should be able to cross your arms without the back pulling. Leave room for a shirt or thin jumper underneath. Leather softens and moulds to you with wear, so a close fit on day one is normal.
How should a leather jacket fit women?
Close to the body without pulling. The shoulder seams should sit at the edge of your shoulders, the sleeves should end at your wrist bone, and the jacket should close comfortably over the bust with room for a thin top underneath. Cropped jackets should finish at or just above the waist; trench coats and blazers can sit a little looser.
